haiku: alone tonight

Daughter off to work,

and Daddy upstairs asleep,

just Mama and tree.

Once tree trimming was

joy incomparable, now

just a chore to do.

 What happened to the

simple things we loved as kids,

like trees and tinsel?

Soft music, hot mulled

wine, a quiet hour alone–

Christmas tree complete.

Lovely poem…and lovely tree! I’m jealous…nothing of Christmas is out around my house…in fact my daughter’s November birthday balloons and my Thanksgiving decorations are all that adorn my house right now!

Well, we left for South America (we are here now!), so I had to be quick about clearing away and re-decorating.

    Hope your holidays are great!
