Black-eyed peas are a Texas tradition on New Year’s Day. We ate ours yesterday at a little Texas, home-cooking cafe called Jake and Dorothy’s. This Mom and Pop place gained national attention in the Texas Monthly Magazine for their wonderful food last December.
And by the way, that plate also has boiled cabbage and chicken-fried steak on it. Both are Texas treats.
After lunch we enjoyed a leisurely drive full of beautiful New Year’s Day weather, Texas cattle, colorful kites, and blue skies.
What else is there to do on New Year’s Day in Stephenville, TX?
Those black-eyed peas were so good; I think I’ll eat some tomorrow too!
Now you’re gettin’ down in OUR neck of the woods!
