The Temple Connection

A Messianic Daily Devotional

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Ruach Ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit), who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;” (I Corinthian 6:19 TLV).

I have traveled through Europe and seen grand cathedrals and synagogues, but there was never one so invitingly beautifully quaint as the small Orthodox Church in the village of Omodos, Cyprus. My husband and I tiptoed in and sat down on the ancient wooden pews and offered silent prayers of praise and petition. Then we lifted our eyes to behold sunlit, colorful patterns from the stain-glassed windows reflecting on the glossy sanctuary walls and floors.

The biblical Temple of the Jewish people became historically the center of their community, and the same is true today in modern life. The edifice may be colossal or non-descript, but it is understood to be the place where heaven and earth touch — the place of sacrifice, celebration, solace, inspiration, and connection.

No building, no matter how beautiful or grand is the real temple of the living God. I am that temple. And I pray that His light shining through me to the world will be as beautiful, captivating, and majestic as the sun beaming through the windows of churches or synagogues. May others find in me a connection that brings heaven to earth.

Working it into daily life…

Find your own sanctuary of beauty and peace today by getting alone with God, and allow the Son to shine through your spirit. Let Him set your heart on fire again, and your feet dancing in His light. You were created to be the temple of the living God which means supernatural connection beyond the limits of this world.
