On the second day of spring, the weather did not disappoint in Jerusalem. Bright and sunny… warm and with a refreshing breeze every now and then… It was the perfect day for an Old City jaunt.
We settled into our hotel and headed out for the Jaffa Gate. Just inside the archway is a bagela stand, so we enjoyed fresh bagelas with hyssop. They are amazing.
Bagelas are Israeli bagels, but they taste nothing like a bagel–rather like fresh bread topped with toasted sesame seeds.
Through the Arab market…
How I longed to stop for fresh pomegranate juice, but we didn’t…
Pass a mosque…
And an Orthodox church in the Christian quarter…
On to the Western Wall…
With the convergence of three major religions in the world here in Jerusalem, you can imagine the atmosphere. Then throw in some tension because of terrorism, and you have quite a mix.
Still this is the City of our God and King… the Holy City… the habitation of God… there is no place on earth like it.
After a jaunt in the Holy City, my prayers for peace increase.
We fell into bed exhausted… our cups overflowing…
Beautiful photos and commentary. Thanks for sharing!
