Mother…

CSC_0397

A dear Guatemalan friend of ours, Pepe, owns 11 restaurants in town and reserved a room for us in one of his places. The family took several buses to get to us. Most of Julia’s siblings were able to come… all but one brother that was working.

Of course one of the most touching moments was when Julia and her mother met for the first time and embraced. You can see here that she is reaching out to Julia way before they actually hugged.

When they did embrace, Julia’s mother cried and buried her head in Julia’s shoulder. It was so sweet. I cried too.

It took her awhile to recover. You can see here she is still brushing tears away.

We stayed at the restaurant for nearly four hours just visiting, catching up, and discovering facts about the lives that had been lived in different countries for 21 years. Many questions were answered, and some were not.

The most important thing is that we discovered that Julia’s mom became a true believer about ten years ago. She had prayed and prayed since then for the opportunity to see Julia again. She also told us that she alone believes… none of her other children do.

She told Julia that it was good that she went away and had the chance for another life or she probably would have three babies by now… had she stayed in Guatemala. and this is probably true. Julia’s already has 7 nieces and nephews! We met them all today. I will post photos of them later. They are so cute.

Julia looks like a couple of her siblings. I will post photos of them tomorrow and tell more of the story. We found out several interesting things…

But right now we are all emotionally spent and very grateful to God for this wonderful reunion.
