Last weekend, my hubby and I enjoyed a four-day weekend in Tyler, Texas. Now don’t get too excited. It was not all play; but for us, our work is as enjoyable as our play so it was sheer pleasure.
After we arrived Thursday afternoon, we rested and then met dear friends for Mexican food near our hotel. How we enjoyed the cooler weather and the sweetness of catching up around a savory table of chips, salsa, enchiladas, and tacos!
The next evening we celebrated Erev Shabbat in the beautiful home of Tyler residents. The candles flickered, and the faces glowed as we all ushered in the day of rest with fellowship and great food. I am so happy because we made some new friends! I brought home a great recipe too: Sopapilla Cheesecake. I have already made it here for guests!
Saturday we hopped in the car and drove to the annual Tyler Rose Festival. The flowers were not as beautiful as usual because of record heat temperatures in Texas this year, but they were still amazing. This was our first time to attend, and we are so glad we meandered down the pathways of fragrance and blooming.
I loved this fountain.
Then we took a drive to Callender Lake and later to Edam. Along side of the road, we spotted these two stunning longhorns. These are magnificent creatures and didn’t mind posing for a photo shoot.
These animals are definitely something we don’t see in the city!
All in all, we enjoyed our four-day work/play weekend of longhorns, roses, and rest.
