Measure Me By These…

Measurements

I am a Bridegroom Creator showing off

for My pure and priceless Bride with a

red cardinal, deep blue crystal lake,

purple mountain, dancing deer, buffalo

upon the plane, sweet honeycomb, and

silver morning mist. Measure and calculate

the mighty kingdoms of this life as they quiver

and swell with joy before Me, as they quake

and breathe with beauty through the cycles

of earth’s seasons settled in order.

My faithfulness is carved into their laws

until this world swings out of orbit and

the shimmering stars burst in the midnight sky.

Determine the depths and heights of these; know

their minerals and molecules; test their chemicals

and distances. Measure their impact on the

surface and below the equator’s core. Write their

formulas and log them into your journals.

Teach your children their wonder. But see Me mostly

by the roughness of my scars. Run your fingers over

the wounds. Press your hand into the ridges on My

side. Measure Me by these. You who has believed

and not seen. When you’ve drunk the last drop of the

ocean’s frothy green swell and filled your downy bed with

salty stem and prickly stalk, frosty flake, and mossy

fern, when you have collected the last shell of pearl and stuffed

your bags with spores and lichen and the silver

sparkle of glistening gold… then

find your name emblazoned upon My palms with

unquenchable love flames as fierce as death.

I am a Bridegroom showing

off for my Bride with magnificent, dazzling creation.

But measure Me by the scars.
