Radiance and Beauty

A Messianic Daily Devotional

“Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame” Psalm 34:5 NIV.

Most artists will tell you that light depicted in art is more important than the subject. The artist’s ability to transfer the reality of illumination onto the canvas is what makes artistic design outstanding and timeless. It doesn’t matter the medium, time period, or subject — it’s all about how the artist renders the reflection and play of light and shadows.

Radiant comes from the Hebrew root nahar meaning streaming, flowing, shining, beaming. The above scripture also mentions faces without shame. It is the blessed gift of forgiveness of sins that enables us to face the world without shame and renders our faces radiant.

God’s light is radiant and glows from the heart out revealing true beauty. It is timeless. The desire for beauty is ubiquitous, so much so that it is a universal, multi-million dollar industry. But the true beauty of radiance is free and very captivating and comes from God alone.

Working it into daily life…

Find a minute today to focus on Jesus, the Source of Light. Confess your shame to Him and ask for forgiveness.  He will wash your face with His radiant, streaming, flowing love. In gazing upon Jesus, who is the express image of God, you will have found the truest source of flawless beauty in the universe.
