Ever-Increasing Light

A Messianic Daily Devotional

“The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that grows brighter and brighter until the full day: (Proverbs 4:18 NIV).

Because I am fascinated with people, I read many blogs each day. The common thread among them is the darkness and uncertainty many feel about life. Each seeks clarity and light to illumine obscure issues and hard questions. It is difficult to discern exactly what choices are right or why things happen, especially painful things. These questions are universal.

This scripture above from Proverbs depicts accepted Jewish thought among those that try to live to please God — that their pathway will be filled with ever-increasing light.

Walk in the light or clarity you have today, knowing God will give more light as you follow and obey Him. Although you may be unsure of many things, life and light are bound together. Just as the scripture above states, “…the path of the righteous grows brighter and brighter…” This doesn’t mean God answers every question, but it means He takes no pleasure in keeping you in the dark. He wants to help you understand so you can make good choices. He’s on your side! Take this promise as yours today.

Work it into daily life…

Take a moment today to meditate on this verse and pray over it. Ask the Lord to reveal His light in areas that unclear to you. If you ask God for direction and wisdom, He will not withhold it. Hold this promise close to your heart, especially in uncertainty. In time, your pathway will become brighter and clearer and the right choices will become evident. God keeps His promises!
