hard edges softened
by loss, pain, grief, betrayal
joy beyond this life
who has not envied
a bird in flight, soaring up
above life’s chaos
mid-life assessment
fewer questions and even
less answers to flaunt
people do not seek
answers but understanding
and heartfelt comfort
not Pollyanna
but joy surely follows grief
and love outwits death
indigo cobalt
blue shades of mid-night gray and
black turned rosy pink
Ah, Bonnie … one of my favorites … especially stanzas 3 & 4! It’s the transparency, the wisdom that comes with walking with God, and a certain comfort evident in the soft phrasing.
I have read with interest in the past few days as you have shared a bit about the beginnings of your mission life.
And as always your photos capture beauty!
Thanks so much for your comment and encouragement!
I liked stanzas 3 and 4 too. Interesting that those are the words which are standing out the most to us, your blog audience. Very well done this piece. And I don’t really like poetry so for me to respond says something! Keep walking in reality.
Davidelai,
You don’t like poetry… now how did I miss that after 30 years and more?
