Curried Lentil Stew

This is a favorite winter stew of mine–very inexpensive to make. It is tasty and uncommon enough to serve guests. The smoked turkey and smokey cumin, along with the hot, red curry gives this stew a savory and unique flavor. Here’s the recipe. You can see how much I like this recipe…

Blossoming Almond Branches

Almond trees dot the mountains of Cyprus. They are one of the first signs of rebirth in spring. It happens so quickly. The barren branches of winter become laden with pale pink, delicate flowers practically overnight.  The blossoms are a happy reminder of the miracle of spring and new life on the earth after the…

Sea or Mountains?

My husband and I are back in our rented house in the Troodos mountains after a few days by the sea in Paphos. It is cold and wet the morning, and I am longing for the warmth of the sun and sea.

Love that Lasts Forever…

The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness (Jeremiah 31:13). A Life of Moments…

He recognized light…

King James English

“The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound there of but canst tell whither it cometh or whither it goeth” John 3:8. Here is the NIV translation–it’s a little easier to understand: “The wind blows where it wants to. You hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or…

Ancient Baskets

Years ago, way before refrigeration, baskets like this hung from the ceilings of the homes in Cyprus. Perishable food items were stored there safely away from mice and critters, maybe even snakes. You will find them now as interesting artifacts and decor hanging from the ceilings of many mountain restaurants.
