Louis Glick in his Glick Report on Fox/Business.com is calling the comic book film out today about Batman and the Joker, The Dark Knight, a “shining light.” Of course all the film critics are saying Heath Ledger’s performance trumps the star, Batman himself, Christian Bales. There is also Oscar buzz about Ledger’s performance. And I must admit the guy was an amazing actor. But the whole thing is so sad to me… Ledger’s untimely death due to an overdose of prescription drugs…
Light in the dark places of life and peace during inner and outer conflict are what the world seeks most. So why are they always going to the dark side to find it?
I think calling The Dark Knight a shining light is going too far. It just shows how black the darkness around us really is.
“But men loved darkness instead of light becaue they deeds were evil. A person rejects the light for fear his deeds would be exposed.” (John 3:19-20.)
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life'” (John 8:12).
