Mountains and More…

We are continuing our road trip. We spent the last eight days in Redding, California at a marriage seminar. It was impacting and refreshing. Today we packed up the car and drove to Reno through the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.

Destiny in Bloom

The wind broken lives of Ethiopia’s Jews move my heart in compassion. Destiny in Bloom, a women’s online magazine, published an article of mine about these precious people last week.  Find it here.

Desert Dreams

If you know me, then you are aware that I LOVE the desert. Its beauty is singular and magnetic from the heat, sand, lizards, muted colors, and prickles. I am captivated by the creativity and unusual life I find here. I can’t get enough. My husband and I are on a road trip making a…

Bruised Reed

Bruised Reed Hollow face pressing desperate upon stones built by Herod. Grief lines penetrating fragile bones, tear stains etching cold outlines. Every year I thrill when they come into color. These dainty flowers boost my faith. They represent a living sign planted within the earth…

Cream of Fava Bean Soup

Fava beans — larger than lima or butter beans — are packed with flavor and nutrition. Remember Jack who sold  the family cow for a few beans — and they turned out to be a magical variety? When you think of fava beans, think of the old English children’s classic, “Jack and the Beanstalk” kind…

Crushing…

Lavender grows wild in the Mid East… it dots the terrain in Cyprus where we are now. The place we are renting in Pafos has many lavender bushes. Sometimes when I open the windows in the morning the fragrance floats on the breezes… Lavender is also known as nard in the Bible. It is one…
